Beef Teriyaki Casserole
Why This Recipe Works
After establishing the proper balance of ingredients and flavorings in our homemade teriyaki sauce, we moved on to the timing of our beef teriyaki casserole recipe. Searing the meat, then tossing it with the sauce after it was thickened with some cornstarch on the stovetop created just the effect we wanted, giving the meat a slightly charred exterior that was well coated with a dark, glossy glaze. Because the baking time of the beef teriyaki layer is relatively short, both the rice and the vegetables needed to be fully cooked before being assembled in the casserole dish. Using a single pot of boiling water, we simply blanched the vegetables, then used the same water to cook the rice. Sprinkling a few toasted sesame seeds over the assembled casserole before baking and adding some minced scallion greens before serving finished our beef teriyaki casserole recipe.
