A Tip for Cooking Grass-Fed Beef

We’ve often heard that grass-fed beef cooks faster than grain-fed beef because it’s leaner. To put this claim to the test, we cooked seven grain-fed prime strip steaks alongside seven grass-fed strip steaks.

We’ve often heard that grass-fed beef cooks faster than grain-fed beef because it’s leaner. To put this claim to the test, we cooked seven grain-fed prime strip steaks alongside seven grass-fed strip steaks (grass-fed beef is not graded). Though the grass-fed steaks rose in temperature a bit more quickly than grain-fed in all but one of the tests, the difference between the quickest and the slowest steak was 4 minutes or less, and all of the samples cooked within our given time range. The takeaway? Check grass-fed beef’s temperature at the beginning of a recommended time range.
