Tart Unmolding Made Easy

This tip makes unmolding a tart a piece of cake.

Lifting up the removable tart pan bottom in our French Apple Tart (see related content) with your hand causes the outer pan ring to slide down your arm like a hula hoop. Here's an easier way to unmold a tart.

To remove the pan ring easily, place a wide can, such as a 28-ounce can of tomatoes, on the counter and set the cooled tart pan on top of the can. Hold the pan ring and gently pull it downward.
