Microwave Tostadas

Trade in a pot of oil for your microwave.

In the test kitchen, we’ll gladly break out the frying oil when we want to turn a stack of soft tortillas into a batch of crisp tostadas. But when we need only a few, it’s more mess and trouble than it’s worth.

The solution? Trade in a pot of oil for your microwave. Place corn or flour tortillas in a single layer on a large microwave-safe plate and heat on full power, flipping the tortillas every 30 seconds, until lightly browned and crisp (about 1 to 1½ minutes total).
