Shopping and Storage Tips for Radishes

Shopping:  Whenever possible, choose radishes with the greens attached; crisp, fresh-looking greens are a sign that the radishes are also fresh. If the radishes come prebagged with the greens removed, make sure that they are firm and without cracks. Avoid very large radishes, which can have a woody texture and hollow cores.

Storage:  Remove the greens so that they don't pull moisture away from the radishes. Store separately—wrapped in paper towels in a loosely closed container, compost bag, or plastic produce bag—in the crisper drawer. The radishes will last for about a week; the greens will last for two to three days.

Removing the greens from radishes will help the roots last longer.
