How to Prevent Cracks in Pie Crust

Use these two tips to ensure your pie dough edges are entirely fray-free.

You won't have big cracks forming at the edges of the dough when rolling out our Foolproof All-Butter Pie Dough. But if you want to be a real perfectionist, here's how to ensure that the edges are entirely fray-free.

KEEP IT TIGHT: When wrapping the finished dough in plastic wrap, press firmly on the sides and top of the dough to form a compact, fissure-free mass.

SEAL IT UP: Before unwrapping the chilled dough, stand it on its edge and roll the edge firmly along the counter to seal any remaining cracks.
