Is there really any difference in jarred sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil?
A recent taste test showed that not all oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes taste the same, at least straight from the jar. We tasted tomatoes from several sources. However, tasters agreed that only the Trader Joe's tomatoes, which are packed in olive oil, garlic, herbs, spices, and sulfur dioxide (to retain color), had the right balance of flavors and sweetness. All other brands were thought to have an overpowering musty, herbal flavor.
