Fear-Free Way to Invert a Galette

Much like a frittata or roesti, our Potato Galette must be inverted out of the hot, heavy pan for serving—a step that can literally make or break the presentation. Here’s our foolproof method for getting this (and other similar items that are cooked in a skillet) from pan to platter without having to flip the unwieldy pan.

1. With a spatula, loosen the galette or other cake and slide it out of the skillet onto a large plate.

2. Gently place a cutting board over the galette. Do not use an overly heavy board, which may crush the cake.

3. Flip the plate over so the board is on the bottom. Remove the plate, and the galette is ready to be sliced and served.
