Yes! The Cook’s Illustrated app provides mobile access to all of the members-only recipes, recipe specific videos, and supermarket ingredient reviews available on CooksIllustrated.com.

If I'm a member of Editors’ Choice Cookbook Collection on CooksIllustrated.com, do I have access to those recipes?

Yes, if you are a member of Editors’ Choice Cookbook Collection, you will have access to all of those members-only recipes from the app.

How do I search for recipes?

You can browse recipes by cuisine or category. You can also search by recipe title or ingredient by tapping the icon and typing in your selection.

How do I save recipes to ‘Favorites?’

You can save a recipe to your ‘Favorites’ by tapping the icon in the upper right corner.

Can I view my existing ‘Favorites?’

Yes! Your Favorites content will automatically by synched up with your Cooksillustrated.com membership.

How do I use the shopping list feature?

You can tap the ‘+’ next to any ingredient in a recipe and it will automatically be added to your shopping list. Or you can simply hit the “add to shopping list” button on a recipe to add all of the ingredients for tha recipe to your shopping list. If you wish to add additional non recipe items to your shopping list (need paper towels or orange juice?), can easily expand your shopping list with additional items.

How do I remove items from my shopping list?

Tap on items that you would like removed and then select ‘clear checked’ option at the bottom.

How do I use the timer?

Within recipe instructions, times are highlighted as buttons. Simply tapping on a button will launch a timer preset to that particular time or the shortest time if our recipe quotes a range. For example, if a recipe says that a step should take 4 to 6 minutes, hitting the button will launch a timer preset to 4 minutes, which can be revised for more or less time. Alternatively, you can launch a new timer at any time by tapping the “Timers” tab located at the bottom of any screen (Recipes section) to launch a new timer.

Will you come out with an iPad version of this app?

The Cook’s Illustrated iPhone app is our first mobile app. Based on feedback from users of this app, along with feedback from our community of readers, we will be determining which future apps to develop. Why can't I access the website if I'm just a print subscriber? Why do I have to pay an additional charge to access online content?

A membership to our website is separate from a subscription to our magazine. Website memberships are $34.95 per year, and Cook's Illustrated subscribers receive a discounted rate of $29.95 per year. Unlike most websites, which are first and foremost about making money from advertisements, selling products, and selling your personal information to other companies, CooksIllustrated.com does not accept any sort of advertising or promotional revenue. We are 100 percent advertising free and rely entirely on the support of our website members. Given the substantial investment required to create, maintain, and update our website, we have no choice but to charge a modest fee.
