What You Need To Know

If you’ve opened a slow cooker to stir or serve food, you’ve had this dilemma: Hold the lid and you’re one-handed; put it down and not only does it take up a lot of space, but it leaves a puddle of condensation on the counter. The Lid Pocket ($9.99) aims to solve this problem. One end of the S-shaped piece of plastic hooks over the edge of the cooker and the other curves into a cupped slot in which the lid can sit upright, while collecting drips.

We tried it with several sizes of slow cookers and found it fit all, but not as snugly as we’d like. That meant carelessly placed lids flopped too far back and fell off if the cooker was bumped hard. The Lid Pocket does provide a compact, convenient resting place for lids that frees up a hand and keeps the counter dry. (Lids fit back on the cooker without the need to remove the device.) We just wish it felt a bit more secure.
