Electric Citrus Juicers

Published July 1, 2008. From Cook's Illustrated.

If you want a lot of juice, consider using an electric juicer.

Though we find a handheld citrus squeezer fine if we only need a little juice, we prefer plugging into a more powerful tool when we want a lot. Our favorite, a heavy stainless steel model, extracted every last drop of juice smoothly and efficiently; pressing on the handle squeezed the fruit while starting a motorized reamer. If juicing is a top priority, this “Rolls-Royce of juicers” is a nice, investment. But at $170, it's not cheap.

Meanwhile, juice flowed almost as freely from three smaller (and much cheaper) electric juicers; our favorite won us over with its mess-free squeezing, easy pouring, and bargain (under $20) price.
