It can be too easy to grab a hot pan handle and burn yourself; do these offer a solution?
When soup boils over, it's all too easy to grab a hot pan handle and burn yourself. Silicone handle sleeves promise a no-sear solution. We tested two models and when they gripped a handle snugly, we liked their performance. The problem? Neither fits all pans. The first was designed for the brand's own cookware and was too slim and stumpy for longer, bulkier handles. Conversely, the second model fit nicely over only fatter handles. Our advice? Before you buy, try them in the store on your line of cookware. Note that neither model is designed to go into the oven.
